Episode Quotes

Gina: My mom is marrying, shudder, Charles's dad, toilet emoji.

Captain Holt: I remarked afterwards that I wished the officiant had been more efficient. It was very funny. Kevin still talks about it. Maybe I should open with that zinger?

Gina: Give me the ring.
Jake: You sound like Gollum.
Gina: That means nothing to me. I don't see those movies, I'm too pretty.

Rosa: I've only said I love you to three people. My mom, my dad and my dying grandpa. And one of those I regret.
Charles: Which one?
Rosa: Grandpa. He beat cancer so now I look like an idiot.

Kevin:Yes.
Minister: And do you-

Recap

As Amy briefs the squad on a counterfeiter she's been chasing for two years who just resurfaced, Gina takes over to talk about her mother's impending wedding to Charles's dad. Gina gives everybody in the squad a role to play in her wedding, instructing Jake to pick up the wedding ring on the day of the ceremony.

When Jake goes to Boyle's desk, he says he's excited that his old flame, Jenny Gildenhorn - who dumped him for another kid at his bar mitzvah, will be attending the wedding. Jake hopes to rekindle things with her now she's single, and get the slow dance he lost out on as a kid. Later, Boyle checks on Rosa to see whether she's taking Marcus to the wedding. Rosa isn't completely sold on her relationship yet, so she doesn't want to take Marcus to someplace romantic where he may get emotional.

After the priest pulls out, Gina goes to Captain Holt's office to talk to him and Terry about one of them officiating the wedding. When Holt figures he's probably not the best candidate to give an emotional speech, Gina gives Terry the job.

On the day of the wedding, Jake is happy to have picked up the ring. When he leaves the store, Amy says her informant just called to say her counterfeiter, Gregor Minsk, was spotted four blocks away. Amy convinces Jake to take a detour on the way to the wedding to check out the lead.

At the ceremony, Darlene tells Gina the wedding looks beautiful. Charles wants Rosa's help to tie his dad's cufflinks, since it's bad look for a son to see his father before the wedding. When Rosa helps Lynn, she mentions how she can't imagine having no doubts about making such a big commitment. Her comments get Lynn's mind working and he soon wonders whether he's making a huge mistake by rushing into marriage.

As Jake and Amy watch for Minsk in the car, Jake thinks it's time to go so they won't be late for the wedding. Amy then spots her counterfeiter so they pursue him on foot into a warehouse. Meanwhile, Rosa takes Boyle, with a bag over his head so he won't see his dad, to talk to him about his wedding day jitters. Lynn is now thinking about calling off the wedding.

After a mix-up in the kitchen, Gina's hoping for good news when she asks Terry how his speech is coming along. Terry tries to recite it but breaks down in tears. Gina fires Terry and asks Holt to officiate the wedding. Elsewhere, Amy and Jake chase Minsk out into an alleyway, where the suspect pushes her into some garbage bags. Jake manages to pin the guy down and cuff him.

At the wedding, Gina is stressed about all the things going wrong. Talking to Boyle and Hitchcock, Gina vows to make sure nothing else goes wrong. When Jake and Amy arrive, Gina notices Amy's dress is covered in garbage and offers her a replacement she brought, since she knew she'd hate whatever Amy wore. Jake goes over to to talk to Jenny Gildenhorn and offers to sit with her. When Gina asks Jake for the ring, he realizes he must have lost it in the alleyway.

Back in the alley, Amy searches through the garbage bags to find the ring. Amy doesn't want Jake to get dirty for his big slow dance with Jenny. After she finds the ring, Amy puts it on Jake's finger in a mock proposal, but it's so tight he can't get it off.

Gina goes to Lynn to talk to him about cancelling the wedding. Gina tells him the reason her mom loves him is because he takes big risks, like marriage. Rosa hears Gina talk about the kind of people who never rush into anything are cowards. Meanwhile, Terry checks on Holt's progress. He's now ordained but is having trouble making his speech romantic. Terry suggests Holt just wing it.

Lynn is finally fully dressed and ready for the wedding. Jake and Amy return with the ring, but it takes the strength of Terry to pull it off. Jake is upset to see Jenny Gildenhorn is already making out with another guy.

The wedding ceremony finally begins. After Terry walks Gina down the aisle, the bride, Darlene, walks to the altar. After Captain Holt begins his speech, he sees his husband, Kevin, watching him lovingly. Drawing from his own emotions, Raymond finds the words to talk about love - even working in his Oatmeal comparison. Watching on, Terry cries during Holt's speech. Darlene and Lynn both say yes and are officially married.

After the ceremony, Terry congratulates Holt on his speech. Thinking back to his own rushed wedding, Raymond tells Kevin he would enjoy a more festive expression of their commitment to each other. After Rosa invited him, Marcus shows up and talks to her and Boyle. When Boyle leaves, Rosa admits to Marcus that she didn't invite him as she was being a coward. Rosa tells Marcus she loves him and he sames the same back.

Jake watches Jenny Gildenhorn dance as the same music from his bar mitzvah plays. Amy consoles Jake about Jenny and thanks him for his help to catch her counterfeiter. Amy then tells Jake that she knows somebody who would like to slow dance with him - Gina's great aunt, Susan, who's been asking about him all night.
